Show off your hardware!
« on: Sunday, 19. November 2017, 16:59:28 »
Another missing thread, how have we been able to live without? ;)

I will start showing some (meanwhile quite old) pics from my self made pedals as Tim requested it. Meanwhile I use a Bodnar USB Controller (which required a totally new wiring), mounted other brackets with needle bearings, got another brake mod and mounted rumble motors at the pedals to give me some feedback about spinning or locking tires.

Thanks. Indeed I'm an mechanical engineer (no academic grade), and I'm earning my money by constructing parts for awnings (off season) and doing project management and process planning.

I started last winter to construct new pedals, I thing you might be interested ;) in this as well.

@Sebastian: I know we're lucky that you still race with this worn out wheel ;)

sent from my mobile, cheers!

I've started simracing with a logitech Formula Force ex: back then a steering wheel was already kickass but it was rubbish.
Moved over to a g25 and a playseat. Had loads of fun with it in the touring cars at Race07.
We started building a house and I also was planning and saving up for my 'ultimate' simrig once the house was finished.
I ended up with a directdrive Accuforce steering wheel, Heusinkveld propedals, 4buttkickers and simvibe,
a Geckoseat with a moving backrest, triple screen and an aluminum rig.
It was a hefty cost but I'm no bigspender on other things so I can still sleep at night
In the end, it was all worth it considering how much I spend time in this rig.
Hopefully I'll still have enough seattime after becoming a father in a month.

In the future (1or2years) I foresee a hefty pcupgrade and VRgoggles.
Don't know which ones it will become with all the new vrstuff hitting the shelves at the end of the year.

@ Tim, when you follow the isrtv link, there´s an offer for the same Accuforce you are using: € 999,--. Guess this is a good offer?

Yes,

back when I bought it it was just released and direct drive was still very rare so the prices were a lot steeper.
In the meantime a second version of the Accuforce has come out where I think production cost were lowered a lot thnx to bigger demand
It has idd become a lot cheaper now but that price is a good one afaik.

Hmm, historical excursion:

I started simracing in the late 1980´s (!) with Grand Prix Racing (by Geoff Crammond) at the Amiga. I used a CH Flightstick these days:

Switched then 1993 to a PC ( IBM Compatible 486-66 for ~ € 3300,-- without inflation, must be 5000,-- today, my biggest sin ever when it comes to Computer stuff).
Around this date I bought my first wheel, a Thrustmaster T1 (I still have many replacement springs down in my cellar, the ones in the pedals often broke):

First racing the same Grand Prix Racing a LAN at my small Garconniere (wife needed another PC because mine has been always in use) together with a friend. Then in the late 1990´s I switched to Nascar Racing and Grand Prix Legends.
It must have been in the very early 2000´s that I bought the Logitech Momo, my first FF wheel:

I developed and build the pedals in post 1 in mid 2005 and finished 3 other of them for racing mates. The electronics have been from the Act Labs performance pedals, that I bought meanwhile:

I used the Momo several  years until I made a break in Simracing (late 2008 to late 2013, doing some Vespa Restaurations meanwhile). The I joined NRE again together with a used Fanatec CSR (not Elite).

Last year the CSR had been sold and the Thrustmaster T300 Ferrari Alcantara was there and is still in use after one repir after 1 1/2 year (Pedals never used):

The Accuforce for 1000,- at the actual Black Friday sale is surely a charmer to my ego. But I will not buy it, not yet.

My actual project are hanging pedals, Brake pedal will get a load cell, Gas and clutch pots again. Have right now no other image than this one attached. Will export some images at the follwoing days..
